We filmed Ana and David’s wedding on 20 September 2025: the ceremony at the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Coronada, in Calañas, and the celebration at Hacienda Ballemari, on the outskirts of Huelva.

How it went
Their story
Ana came to us by two routes: her friend Esther, whom she didn’t pay much attention to at first, and Pepi, her wedding planner, who told her “go with these two”. She didn’t know our work; she trusted the people telling her. They weren’t wrong. They spent the morning each at their own home: Ana stretched out on the bed with her brother, talking about anything else so as not to think; David at his mother’s house, surrounded by nephews and nieces. When it was time to get dressed, the nerves got the better of her and she had to be slowed down a little: that’s where the images she loves most today came from. Her favourite moment came later: the two of them alone in the car after the “I do”, unable to stop looking at each other. And a surprise nobody had on the list: carnival coplas, the songs of the Cádiz carnival, from someone who knows her very well.

DRINKS & DINNER
The celebration at Hacienda Ballemari.
Dinner at Hacienda Ballemari was under a ceiling of hanging greenery and chandeliers, with candles on the tables and linen bows on every chair. The centrepieces, orange flowers, were by Francisco García and the most talked-about thing; the catering, by Nuestra Señora de Guía. In the days after, guests told them it was the best wedding they had ever been to: that they had enjoyed it like children and that you could see the love in every moment.

The after-wedding shoot
The after-wedding shoot, in Cádiz.
We did the after-wedding shoot in Cádiz, and not by chance: Ana and David are carnival people, so much so that coplas were sung by surprise at their wedding. An afternoon by the sea, with the wind against us and just one rule: don’t touch your hair. Ana says that’s where the photos she loves most came from.

Ana and David got married at the Ermita de la Coronada, in Calañas, and celebrated at Hacienda Ballemari, on the outskirts of Huelva. What this land brings to the table, seen through their wedding.

September, the good month
In Huelva, September is still summer by day — close to thirty degrees — and it cools down at night. The sun sets at about a quarter past eight: an evening wedding gets the best light of the year and an open-air dinner without the heat.

La Coronada, by the Odiel
The ceremony was at the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Coronada, the shrine of Calañas’s patron saint: a brick Mudéjar hermitage in Sotiel Coronada, by the river Odiel, built, tradition says, where the Virgin appeared to a shepherd in 1520. Getting married there is getting married in the real Andévalo.

From the Andévalo to the marshes
From the hermitage, inland, to Hacienda Ballemari, by the Nicoba riverbank on the outskirts of Huelva: the wedding crosses half the province in a day, and the drive in the classic car was the couple’s time alone. Guests sleep in the city, right next to the celebration.

A planner who handles everything
Ana says the first thing they got right was Pepi, of Bogado Wedding: she brought them Gonzalo, their photographer, and us. Here, getting married with a planner is one of the things you notice most on the day: the couple arrives rested.

Carnival coplas
In this corner of Andalusia a wedding can end in carnival: Ana would have missed something without a few coplas, and someone who knows her well made sure they were sung. They are such carnival people that we did their after-wedding shoot in Cádiz.

Choco, mojama and Condado wine
Huelva eats differently from Seville: cuttlefish (choco), mojama from Isla Cristina, white prawns, Jabugo ham and wine from El Condado. At this wedding the catering was by Nuestra Señora de Guía, and guests talked about the food for days.

Portugal, three quarters of an hour away
From Huelva, the Algarve is about forty-five minutes by motorway and Faro airport just over an hour; Seville’s, a good hour the other way. Two gateways for those flying in, and a honeymoon getaway that starts just around the corner.

Is a video worth it if there’s already a photographer?
Ana puts it like this: it might seem that photos are enough, and that’s a mistake. Watching the film together, they felt it all again; there are looks and moments you forget because of the nerves that only stay in the video. They came to us through their planner and a friend, and today they say they would choose us a thousand times over.
